Privacy policy

Automatic storage of information

As most websites, luftfartstilsynet.no uses information capsules/cookies (small text files stored by websites on the visitor’s computer). This does not represent any security risk for you, but you can withdraw your consent about the storage of information capsules at any given time.

Web analysis

As an important part of our effort to create a user-friendly website, we examine the user patterns of those visiting our website. For this, we use SiteImprove, Google Analytics and Hotjar for website analysis.

These tools use information capsules/cookies to register the user’s IP address, which provides information about how the user navigates around the Internet. Among others, these tools record the following data:

  • Anonymised IP addresses
  • Screen resolution
  • Device category, operative system and browser
  • Geographical location (limited to country)
  • Language of the website displayed
  • Mouse activity (movement, position and clicks)
  • Keystrokes
  • Date and time visited
  • Pages visited
  • Domain and URL the user came from

For example, the statistics provide us with information about the number of visitors to each web page, how long visitors stay on the page, the website the user has come from and browser used. This information is used to analyse which user experiences can be improved and the content items we can enhance to create a better user experience.

We cannot connect your personal usage of the website through any of the information capsules.

The information from Google Analytics is stored on Google’s servers in the USA. All received data is subject to Google’s privacy policy guidelines. Hotjar processes data in compliance with European data protection laws.

IP addresses are defined as personal data because they can be traced back to specific computer hardware and consequently a specific person. The Norwegian Civil Aviation Authority uses Google Analytics’ tracking code, which anonymises IP addresses before the information is stored and processed by Google. In this way, stored IP address cannot be used to identify individual users.

E-mails, forms and participation

When using our forms, sending e-mails or taking part in online meetings, we will receive personal data, such as your name, e-mail address, etc., which will be processed in compliance with applicable personal data legislation.

The purpose of collecting and storing the personal data requested on the various forms is related to the completion of the authority’s tasks. The specific purpose will be specified on each form.

Our administrative duties form the basis for the processing, which will be stated on the form. You will have the right to inspect and rectify any incorrect information, but not to request the deletion of data if it is essential to safeguard the purpose. It is not possible to request restricted processing.

The data is stored for as long as necessary to safeguard the purpose. If you believe the data is not processed according to the rules, you can complain to the Norway Data Protection Authority.

All electronic enquiries generally fall under the Norwegian Archives Act and associated regulations, and are subject to the right to inspect in accordance with the Norwegian Freedom of Information Act. This means that e-mails, forms, and participation in online meetings and blogs will be available to anyone requesting such information.
